Having our business based in Redruth in the centre of Cornwall, means the R2 Events team have a perfect location from which to deliver our DJ, mobile disco and equipment hire services across the county.
When compared to a lot of the county you won’t find a huge amount of venues or locations in Redruth town and the TR15, TR16 and TR14 postcode areas to hold a birthday party or wedding reception.
What you will find however, is a rich history of mining as seen at Heartlands, the local Cornish heritage centre that also holds weddings and music festivals that we have been proud to support.
Before the decline of the industry Redruth, St. Day, Pool and the surrounding villages were part of some of the most valuable pieces of land in the world due to its highly sought after deposits of tin and copper.
These days however, the area faces tough economic times and high levels of unemployment, whilst nearby towns like St. Ives, Falmouth and Newquay have a thriving tourist trade and without this income it can sometimes mean there is a lack of money to hire a mobile disco in Redruth.
Luckily there are affordable, but still good quality places to enjoy an evening party near the centre of town, such as Trickys and the great value Penventon Hotel.
Our DIY Disco systems are also a popular choice for anyone on a budget, providing great sound and lighting and cheaper than hiring a DJ.
On the outskirts of the town and literally 3 minutes drive from our offices, you’ll find Scorrier House and The Old Vicarage, two stunning venues that wouldn’t look out of place tucked away in the more remote areas of Cornwall like Lostwithiel or The Roseland.
Redruth may have shortcomings when it comes to entertainment venues, but it’s prime location in the centre of Cornwall gives easy access to the whole county, including the stunning North Coast.
Portreath and Porthtowan on the North Cornwall coast
Anyone looking for somewhere to get married on the Cornish coast should consider Portreath and Porthtowan with their beautiful beaches and rugged cliffs, all just 10 minutes drive from Redruth.
Portreath used to be the harbour that exported the expensive minerals from the mines in Redruth and Camborne, but now proves to be a popular place for a wedding.
Gwel an Mor and it’s luxury lodges nestled on top of the cliffs at Portreath is a great example of somewhere we have been providing mobile DJ services to for many years.
Porthtowan is the next major village along the coast and right on the edge of the beach is the Blue Bar, a perfect place for wedding DJs to play laid back music by the sea.
For a more rustic feel, Mount Pleasant Eco Park and it’s barn can be found heading back to Redruth, not far from the rural and seaside venues of St. Agnes.
